Competition Commission clears Live Nation/Ticketmaster merger in the UK
The UK Competition Commission (CC) has today given unconditional clearance to the proposed merger of Live Nation and Ticketmaster in the UK. In reaching this decision, the CC has reversed its Provisional Findings that the merger would result in a lessening of competition by preventing CTS Eventim entering the UK ticketing market. As explained in the CC's final report, the CC received considerable amounts of new evidence following the publication of its Provisional Findings. This new evidence revealed that the merger will make little difference to the prospects of CTS in the UK. Rather, the CC finds that CTS' success will be deteremined principally by its own efforts and abilities.
