E-Control publishes Annual Report
E-Control, the Austrian energy regulator has published its 2009 annual report, which provides an overview of recent regulatory developments in the Austrian power and natural gas markets. The annual report includes an analysis of retail margins in these markets which draws on a study by Frontier (Europe).
Frontier's study explores how retail margins depend on the energy procurement strategy of retailers. The results indicate that a higher margin may be achieved with a more flexible procurement strategy. This raises retail margins which could add profits to the retail business and could be used to set more competitive tariffs.
Frontier regularly surveys utility retail margins and advises on retail and procurement strategies for private and public sector clients in a range of network industries and countries.
