UK Office of Fair Trading clears hospital acquisition

Today, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) unconditionally cleared the acquisition by General Healthcare Group of seven private hospitals previously owned by Nuffield Hospitals.  General Healthcare Group successfully implemented a "fix-it-first" approach by selling two further hospitals to third parties to eliminate any local or national competition concerns that could have been raised by the merger.
