EdF completes latest virtual power plant (VPP) auction
Following agreement with the European Commssion, EDF has made a number of changes to its capacity release programme (a remedy in relation to EDF's acquisition of a controlling interest in EnBW). The 21st auction, which took place on September 13th, saw the PPA product replaced by extra baseload VPP release, the introduction of a 4 year duration baseload VPP and a modification of the auction rules to speed up the auctions and prevent bidders from gaming in a way that has in the past created the danger of substantial undersell. 34 bidders took part in the auction, 20 were successful.
Frontier (Europe) continues to advise EDF in relation to the capacity release auctions.
