Cave review of competition in water published

The Cave Review of competition and innovation in water markets has published its final report, recommending that the Government introduces legislation to enable all large non-households users (over 1.5 million in England and 110,000 in Wales) to choose their water and sewerage retailer for the first time.  The Review also advises that the Environment Agency should take steps to facilitate the trading of water abstraction and discharge licences.

Frontier (Europe) has advised water companies on the implications of the Cave Review. Frontier (Europe) has also advised the Water Industry Commission for Scotland and Scottish Water on the introduction of retail competition in Scotland. Separately Frontier (Australia & Europe) advises the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on the development of the regulatory regime governing the existing water abstraction market in Australia.
