UK Government publishes smart metering consultation document
The UK Government has published a consultation on a range of implementation issues associated with its intention to mandate the roll out of smart electricity and gas meters to all households. The consultation document makes proposals on the industry arrangements for the installation of the smart meters and the minimum functionality they should have.Frontier (Europe) has advised Centrica on the introduction of smart meters within Great Britain and, together with Logica, undertook a study of the costs and benefits of smart meters for network operators in the Netherlands for Energiekamer. We are also currently advising a number of European energy companies about the opportunities provided by smart meters.
