The Ashes set to return to Free-To-Air TV
The UK Government has published the findings of its review of the so-called "crown jewel" list of events that should be safeguarded for free-to-air television. The list aims to ensure that events of national significance are available on free-to-air platforms to the widest possible portion of the UK population, whilst also taking into account the importance of broadcasting rights revenues to sports governing bodies and investment in grass roots sport.
The report recommends adding the England cricket team's home Ashes test series and international football qualifiers for the home nations to the list of protected events
Frontier (Europe) advised the Review Panel on the cost and benefits of listing events.
