Eurelectric workshop on business challenges for distribution companies
Eurelectric, the European electricity sector association, held a workshop on "The Business Challenges of Distribution Companies: Finance, Regulation & Smart Metering" in Brussels on 26th November 2009. The workshop provides a forum for senior managers from distribution networks to exchange ideas with each other and with European Union policy makers and regulators. The workshop contained sessions on the strategies and investments of distribution networks, the development of tariffs and incentive-based regulation, and meeting the challenge of smart metering.
Richard Bradley, from Frontier's London office, gave a presentation on "The financial aspects of smart metering roll-outs" focusing on how companies and policy makers can use cost benefit analysis to decide where to deploy smart meters and to help design the market models that will ensure they can be deployed effectively.
Frontier regularly helps electricity and gas network companies and suppliers to develop strategies to profit from smart technology and helps regulators to design and adapt suitable policy frameworks.
