MEDA energy seminars - Marseilles

The European Commission is funding an extensive technical co-operation programme with its Mediterranean partner countries on the liberalisation of their energy industries. William Derbyshire and Nick Elms presented papers on the lessons from electricity and gas liberalisation worldwide at these seminars held under this programme, as well as chairing discussions on the regulation of electricity industries following liberalisation and the appropriate sequencing of industry reforms. The attendees included representatives from government and utilities in Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia.
