UK Office of Fair Trading publishes review of extended warranties order
The UK Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has published its review of the "Supply of Extended Warranties on Domestic Electrical Goods Order 2005". The review finds that the market has become more competitive, but that the order is not being fully obeyed by some firms. The Order was implemented following the completion of a UK Competition Commission (CC) investigation in 2003. On the basis of its investigation, the CC recommended that measures be put in place to ensure that consumers know the prices of extended warranties when they choose an electrical good and have more information upon which to make their choices.
