Policy impact assessment
Frontier regularly works for governments, industry bodies and private sector clients to assess the impacts of a range of climate change policies. This complements advice on policy design and implementation and the development of strategic response and transaction advice.
- We provide insights on the likely impact of emissions trading scenarios, covering a range of design elements, including permit auction design and/or permit allocation options. We also provide advice on the impacts of changes related to Renewable Energy Targets (RET). Our aim is to use economic analysis to guide effective policy design which avoids unnecessary costs.
- In addition to formal economic analysis, Frontier frequently utilises our suite of proprietary models to assess the quantum and nature of costs of policy options across the electricity sector. Frontier also works with the Monash Centre of Policy Studies (CoPS) to assess the economy-wide and regional effects on climate change policy using computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling.
