New bulletins for February 2006
Our latest bulletins are now available to download. Drawing on our experience in sectors from electricity retailing to farming, they are linked by a common theme; the challenges and potential rewards of introducing more individually-tailored products.
In Current prices, anybody? we look at the some of the pros and cons of "smart metering" of domestic electricity use - an issue that is highly topical in the electricity industry and has important implications for those in other sectors too.
What am I bid? examines the ways in which the tools of choice and competition are being applied to public sector services. From being able to register with a local NHS dentist to the competitive tendering of refuse collection, understanding when these tools can work well and the drivers of success is critical for reforms to be effective.
Finally, in Up on the farm? we apply principles from economics and business strategy to look some of the challenges faced by the UK agricultural industry. Working more closely with companies in other parts of the food industry and tapping in to demand for high quality and niche export products are just some of the opportunities discussed.
