European Commission approves Heineken's acquisition of Scottish and Newcastle
Today, the European Commission (EC) approved Heineken's acquisition of Scottish and Newcastle's (S&N) assets in Belgium, Finland, Portugal and the UK. However, the EC referred the acquisition of S&N's Irish assets to the Irish Competition Authority due to concerns that the acquisition would remove an important source of competition in relation to the supply of lager in Ireland.
