Recent projects

We regularly work on high profile policy issues, providing advice that is practical and timely, while at the same time robust enough to withstand the closest scrutiny. Below is a sample of projects undertaken in the last year.

  • Public Sector procurement - we provided extensive advice and analysis to Lord Carter's review of legal aid. The Review which set out proposals for a market-based approach to legal aid set are likely to lead to substantial changes in the procurement of legal services in England and Wales.
  • Climate change - we have carried out a number of studies for government departments and organisations on the likely impact of climate change policy.
  • The Creative industries - we have undertaken a detailed analysis of the UK's creative industries, as part of DCMS Creative Economy Programme.
  • Regulatory impact assessments - we have worked closely with the DTI to develop a framework for assessing the costs and benefits of regulation.
  • Choice and competition in public services - we worked for the Audit Commission to provide a comprehensive assessment of the costs and benefits of introducing choice in local government services.
  • Healthcare reform - we have recently modelled the impact of the introduction NHS reforms on hospital finances in a large-size strategic health authority.
  • Affordable housing - we were commissioned by Defra to assess the extent of affordability problems in rural housing markets.
