Techniques

The diversity of our work requires us to be expert in a wide range of analytical tools. These include:

  • Econometric analysis - we use the latest quantitative tools to identify the impact of policies and understand whether they are having their intended effect.
  • Cost Benefit Analysis - a key issue for policy makers is understanding the benefits but also the costs of potential policies. Using robust qualitative and quantitative techniques we provide in depth evidence on the likely costs and benefits of potential interventions.
  • Policy appraisal and evaluation - a core part of policy analysis is evaluating the success of policies. In our experience, the key to successful evaluation is developing an understanding of the problem a policy is trying to address and the levers it uses to address it. Using the ROAMEF framework set out in the Green Book we have evaluated a range of policies across government.
  • Regulatory Impact Assessments - every new regulation must have a regulatory impact assessment. Using the framework we have developed for the DTI, Frontier has assessed the impact of a wide range of regulation.
