Affordable housing in rural areas.
Ensuring fair access to affordable housing in rural areas is key element of Defra's (UK Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) Rural Strategy. It is seen as an important mechanism through which sustainable rural communities and economies can be maintained and social exclusion tackled. Whilst much work has examined affordable housing problems at an aggregate level, achievement of Defra's goals requires an increased understanding of the particular problems related to affordable housing in rural areas.
Frontier (London) has been commissioned by Defra to look, in detail, at rural housing markets and provide analysis of the economic factors that shape these markets in rural areas.
