Energy Council meets to discuss energy network unbundling proposals

In January, the European Commission published "an integrated energy and climate change package". Among other things, the documents suggested that, in order to improve the functioning of the internal energy market, further legislation on network unbundling would be required. The Energy Council met on 15 February to discuss the Commissions plans - Member States need to decide whether to give the existing legislation more time to be effective, or whether to approve new unbundling requirements.

Frontier (London) has worked with a number of European utilities on unbundling issues, and recently published a paper considering the Commission's latest statements on the subject.
