Less is more?

A key part of the vision laid out in the UK Government’s 2007 Energy White Paper was a 10-year roll-out of “smart meters” to all customers – a challenging programme, made more so by the current framework. This bulletin considers whether sacrificing competition in metering services would in practice increase in the benefits of the smart meter roll-out.
