Financial insights
Frontier’s strategy team, which includes experienced financial analysts and modellers, helps companies to improve the way they produce and use financial information.
The purpose of financial, and indeed all, management information (MI) should be to help companies to make better decisions. It follows, then, that your financial MI should be based around things you can control and do. It should reveal where your problems are and provide some clue about what you can do about them.
If, on the other hand, your MI reveals that a problem exists but cannot be related to something specific that your company can actually do, as is so often the case, it is hard to act upon.
For this reason, we think that it is useful to think beyond the usual management accounts and other financial reports companies typically rely upon. These usually contain a great deal of information about financial outcomes but they often fail to drill down and relate those outcomes to their underlying drivers.
To help put our strategic advice into practice, we often help our clients to create financial analysis and MI that characterises their business’s fundamental economic drivers, understands how they fit together, and reflects how they relate to long-term value creation for the business. What that looks like varies on a case-by-case basis, just as the fundamental economics of each company’s business is unique. Unlike traditional accounting reports like P&Ls and Balance Sheets, whose virtues include an established and uniform approach to financial reporting – both over time and across companies – there is no cookie-cutter answer to designing a company’s financial MI based on the underlying economics of its business.
Our team is experienced in undertaking the right financial analysis for each of our clients as required by the business’s decision-makers.
Our clients find that the financial MI and insights we help them to develop better support the decision makers, and enable them to manage their business on the basis of the economic fundamentals.
