Ofgem commissions study into customer switching

Ofgem is currently reviewing the development of competition in domestic gas and electricity retailing in Great Britain. As part of this review, Ofgem wishes to investigate customer level survey data in order to identify the key determinants of switching behaviour. The study will also examine the companies' pricing strategies and aggregate switching data to further Ofgem's understanding of how pricing drives switching and how the strategies adopted by the companies have evolved since market opening. Frontier (London) has been commissioned to undertake this analysis, using the advanced econometric techniques we have applied successfully to analyse switching in other industries.
