European Commission approves packaging merger without conditions
The acquisition of Kappa Holding BV by Jefferson Smurfit, the Irish based packaging group, has been cleared by the European Commission.
The Commission found that the transaction would raise competition concerns in relation to corrugated boxes, solid board boxes, graphic board and solid board partitions in a number of countries. The parties, however, offered remedies that removed these concerns.
Frontier (London) are advisors to Kappa and Jefferson Smurfit.
