EdF completes latest virtual power plant (VPP) auction
EdF continues to make available access to 6,000 MW of generation capacity in France. This fulfils an undertaking agreed by EdF with the European Commission when it obtained the Commission's approval to acquire a further interest in the German electricity utility, EnBW. The auctions are being conducted as simultaneous multi-round ascending price auctions, in order to ensure that buyers can choose the portfolio of products that they want given the emerging prices. 34 bidders took part in the auction held on 8 June 2006, 18 were successful. This auction included an advance offering of products which would normally be sold later in the year. The supply of these sales was not fixed but a function of price.Frontier (Europe) is advising EdF in relation to the auction.
