Morgan Stanley and Visa settle dispute
This week, Morgan Stanley and Visa announced that they had settled a long-running antitrust dispute. The dispute was due to Visa's refusal to allow Morgan Stanley to join the Visa card network, on grounds of Morgan Stanley operating a competing payment system, the Discover card network in the US.
Morgan Stanley filed a complaint to the European Commission in 2000. Morgan Stanley has now become a member of Visa Europe and has withdrawn its antitrust complaint.
Frontier (London) advises Visa Europe.
