The Association of British Insurers investigates legal fees for compensation cla
The Association of British Insurers just published a report by Frontier that investigates the impact of legal representation on outcomes of insurance claims. Frontier was appointed earlier this year to assemble a unique data set that spans UK motor, public and employer's liability insurance claims. The data set was analysed to investigate the impact of legal representation on the outcome of claims.
The results of the study, reported on the ABI website, indicate that the impact of legal representation depends on the type of claim being filed. For some of the most frequent claims, like motor insurance, the data did not reveal a link between legal representation and the amount received. For other claim types the data does indicate a link - with legal representation linked to higher settlements in some cases and lower in others.
