Policy design and implementation
The most notable example of Frontier’s work in this area is our contribution to developing, modelling and implementing the world’s first mandatory broad based emissions trading scheme (ETS), namely the New South Wales Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme in 2001-2.
Frontier has been significantly involved in climate change policy developments since then, including responding to the Garnaut climate change review. We have also been called on to advise on appropriate policy responses to the Climate Change challenge across the economy, for example, in the development of water markets and rural land use planning reform, and in guiding Government thinking on how to best support adaptation to climate change.
