Regulatory design and reform

The network nature of the telecommunications industry means that it is likely to continue to require regulatory oversight, even if some of the services provided over these networks are supplied competitively. The development of an appropriate regulatory strategy involves the identification of market failure or competition restrictions: the design of appropriate remedies, their implementation and the regular review of changes in market conditions, which, in turn, may lead to further reform.

Members of Frontier's telecommunications practice have played an influential role in the development of all aspects of policy design. We have been involved in many of the major developments of recent years including an active participation in the thinking and reform of the communications framework in Europe as well as restructuring outside Europe, including North Africa, Middle East, Asia and the Caribbean.

Our involvement has ranged from advising governments on how to privatise, restructure and regulate, to advising companies on their regulatory and commercial strategy.
