Regulating broadband market in the Netherlands

OPTA has appointed Frontier Economics to advise on the future development of the broadband internet market in the Netherlands. The Netherlands has one of the most diverse telecommunications markets in Europe, with significant presence of both ADSL and cable technologies offering broadband services. The study will provide recommendations on whether the current regulatory regime is sufficient to ensure the development of competition, or whether further measures are required, under different economic scenarios about the development of the sector. The project will start in early December and is expected to be completed by the end of January.
