Caribbean utilities pricing policy under review
The Commonwealth Development Corporation Capital Partners, a shareholder in several Caribbean electricity utilities, has hired Frontier (London) to undertake a detailed review of the tariff mechanisms and structures used by utilities in St Lucia, Dominica and Guyana. The project includes the calculation of tariffs using two distinct methodologies, as well as advising the utilities on optimal pricing policies, mechanisms to allow low income households to afford electricity and appropriate transition to the recommended tariffs. A team from Frontier has been in the Caribbean for the past month gathering data and building models and will return in November to finalise the recommendations.
