Eurelectric debates energy transmission network unbundling

Eurelectric, the union of European electricity companies, held a conference today to debate the European Commission’s proposals on unbundling of energy transmission network companies.  The conference, attended by companies, regulators and representatives from the EC, debated whether the EC’s proposals were likely to achieve the policy objectives they are intended to fulfil.  One of the key areas of debate at the conference was whether the nationally focused aspect of the EC’s proposals is appropriate, and whether a cross-border solution would be more appropriate.  Frontier’s (London) presentation at the conference suggested alternative unbundling models to those proposed by the EC.

Frontier (Europe) has advised a number of electricity and gas companies in Europe and elsewhere on the issue of unbundling.
