Download royalty feud ends
Today, the Financial Times (FT) reported that a seven-year feud over digital music royalties has ended. According to the FT "Recorded music companies, Apple's iTunes online music site and four mobile network operators agreed with publishers that an 8 per cent royalty should be paid for each track downloaded at full price for online or mobile use." The parties also agreed that a system of minimum royalties should be established to ensure that publishers receive at least 4p for single track downloads, even if their typical price was to fall below 79p in the future.
