ACCC releases final decision on review of regulatory test
Following extensive consultation and discussion, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has now realised its final decision on the review of the regulatory test. The main focus of the review has been on competition benefits. After releasing the draft decision, the ACCC asked Frontier (Melbourne) to help it develop a workable methodology for evaluating interconnection competition benefits.
While the final decision outlines a methodology for the assessment of competition benefits, the calculation of competition benefits is an optional add-on which network service providers can choose to pursue if the y wish. The ACCC will continue its work on developing a robust methodology following the release of this decision.
