Competition Commission delays grocery market findings by three months

The UK Competition Commission (CC) has decided to delay the publication of the Provisional Findings of its investigation into the UK groceries market until September - an extension of three months. The decision follows the CC's recent publication of a number of detailed analyses produced by the main parties.

David Parker, a competition expert at Frontier (London) said "The CC signalled in its Emerging Thinking that it proposed to carry out a large number of empirical exercises, and it is only now beginning to publish the draft results of those analyses. Coupled with the extensive material submitted to it by Tesco and others, it is unsurprising that the CC has had to delay its timetable."

Frontier (London) advises Tesco.
