Investment and resource planning

Australia’s highly variable rainfall, the prolonged drought and the potential impacts of climate change have created acute shortages and raised questions about the validity of past approaches to longer term supply/demand planning. Now more than ever it is vital that water businesses and other planning bodies have the right tools to assess long-term investment needs.

Frontier staff have been instrumental in developing and applying economic frameworks to assess long-term planning issues in the water and other infrastructure industries. We are experienced in developing business cases for public-sector project funding, undertaking economic cost-benefit analysis, and developing portfolio-based investment prioritisation tools. We understand the economic, social and environmental costs, benefits, and risks of alternative and competing supply and demand side options including recycling and desalination.
