Paul Johnson joins Frontier

Paul Johnson, currently Chief Micro Economist at Her Majesty's Treasury, is joining Frontier Economics from 1 September 2007 as a Senior Associate.

Paul was previously Chief Economist at the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), Head of Economics of Financial regulation at the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and Deputy Director at the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

He is also a member of the Economic and Social Research Council and a founder council member of the Pensions Policy Institute.

His recent role at the Treasury has involved responsibility for spending issues covering the Department for Transport and DEFRA. He was director responsible for the Eddington review that examined the strategic priorities for transport investment, demand management and direction of policy. He has also been closely involved in the Stern review of Climate Change and has had responsibility for environment and climate change policy within the Treasury. With responsibility also for public sector pay and pension policy he has been involved in the reform of public sector pension schemes and pay policy covering, for example, evidence to Pay Review Bodies, policy on equal pay and local pay, and creating a strategy for pay through the Comprehensive Spending Review.
