Security of supply requires investments
Germany has achieved among the highest international standards in reliability of electricity supply. Investments in power plants and network infrastructure in the last decades and the reliable operation of the facilities have been the drivers. We now observe that the regulatory and commercial framework conditions for investments are changing rapidly. Investments and security of supply can no longer be taken for granted. Future political decisions should therefore consider the risks and costs of a decline in security of supply. These are explored in this recent paper by Frontier (Europe).
