Frontier Economics advised DCMS and HM Treasury in developing the case for funding a new £500 million Film and TV Production Restart scheme to stimulate the sector.
The impact of Covid-19 has halted or delayed TV and film production, owing to a lack insurance for coronavirus-related losses. This new support scheme is designed to fill the gap and get productions back up and running through this financial safety net.
The scheme has been welcomed by the industry as it gives productions the confidence that they will be supported if future losses are incurred due to Covid-19.
As well as helping develop the case for this funding, Frontier also advised on overcoming practical issues with its implementation and ultimately gaining approval.
