On 29th May, Frontier Economics and Havel & Partners will co-host a presentation and discussion event, exploring key economic and legal issues related to competition law damages and disputes.
We have seen a steady rise in the use of economic evidence in both competition law disputes and in commercial arbitration cases across Europe.
From the implementation of the EU directive on damages to precedent-setting cases at the ECJ such as the EU vs. Intel or its ruling on Achmea, the need for alignment of economic evidence with the legal arguments is growing stronger and stronger. Frontier and Havel and Partners collaborate on high-profile cases in the Czech Republic and Slovakia where we effectively combine international experience with local market understanding.
We have therefore brought together a panel of our top international and local specialists to debate commercial disputes and international arbitration, and take questions from the audience. The panel will no doubt also be referring to recent international cases.
The panel includes:
- Robert Neruda, Partner, Havel & Partners – Introductory remarks
- David Parker, Director, Frontier Economics – Effective economic evidence in dispute and litigation cases
- Milan Broucek, Senior Economic Consultant and Marian Minarik, Associate, Havel & Partners – Counterfactual scenario in damage claims
- George Houpis, Director and Goran Serdarević, Manager, Frontier Economics – Adding it up: case studies of competition damages in the Telecoms sector
Registration starts at 8:30am at Havel and Partners offices in Florentinum in downtown Prague, with the main panel discussions running from 9am through to 12pm. There will be a 30 minute coffee break at 10:30am.
After the discussion you are also warmly invited to join us for a light lunch at the venue and the opportunity to meet with the speakers and other delegates.
We do hope that you can join us for what will be a stimulating and highly topical discussion!
