Frontier volunteers for “Jobcafé for Refugees” in Cologne, supporting refugees to integrate into the German labour market

A team from Frontier’s Cologne office today volunteered at the newly-founded “Jobcafé for Refugees”. The Jobcafé is organised by the Caritas association for the city of Cologne (Caritasverband für die Stadt Köln e.V.). It aims to support refugees to improve their German skills, and to help them integrate into the German labour market.

Frontier worked together with refugees from various countries and supported them in preparing their first German CVs in order to apply for jobs in Cologne. In 1 to 1 sessions (and with a potpourri of German, English, French and “tooth and nail” conversations) Frontier colleagues helped to identify peoples’ strengths for the jobs they wish to apply for, and to formulate and format their CVs.

Lino Sonnen, Analyst in Frontier’s Cologne office, said: “I was impressed by their German language skills after only three months of language classes, and their motivation to apply for jobs in German. Their friendly and open attitude contributed to a constructive day and I am confident they will succeed in their aim to find work in Cologne.”

Frontier’s Cologne office is now planning future sessions to support the Jobcafé, and wishes the applicants the best of luck with their job applications.

Frontier dedicates over 1,000 hours per year to pro bono and voluntary work, and collaborates with charities in different countries.
