Sebastian Mertesacker

Sebastian joined Frontier's Cologne office in 2021 and works in the Energy and Competition practices as a Consultant.

In the energy practice, he primarily advises clients on topics related to network regulation and the energy transition. In the competition practice, he regularly supports companies from a range of industries in national and European damages and merger proceedings in their engagement with the regulator (DG COMP, BKartA, CMA).

Before joining Frontier, Sebastian Mertesacker worked as a research assistant at the University of Cologne where he taught energy markets and their regulation as well as competition economics to bachelor's and master's students. Sebastian Mertesacker holds a doctorate in empirical research on household energy consumption from the University of Cologne. He also holds a bachelor's and master's degree in economics with a focus on microeconomics and methodology from the same university.

Sebastian speaks fluent German and English. He also has knowledge of French and Mandarin.
