Sebastian Mertesacker

Sebastian is a consultant based in Frontier’s Cologne office, advising on topics in the area of competition and energy.

He has strong academic and practical expertise in econometric modelling and industrial organisation.

In recent projects for the competition practice, he advised clients on the estimation of cartel damages and provided analysis for high profile merger and litigation cases. In the energy sector he advised private and public sector clients on a range of topics including economic benchmarking, power to X and consequences of potential bidding zone splits in the European electricity market.

Sebastian holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cologne. In his dissertation, Sebastian developed econometric models for the analysis of residential energy demand. Before joining Frontier, Sebastian worked as a research and teaching assistant at the University of Cologne, where he taught Energy Economics and Competition Policy as part of the Bachelor and Master programs, respectively.
