Five 'golden rules' for successful NHS business cases

At least 27 NHS trusts currently have specific plans to build new hospitals. 

The Government has committed to 40 new hospitals and Covid-19 has thrown up issues about capacity that affect virtually every NHS trust.

Any significant new capital spending must develop a business case to justify the capital expenditure.  Amidst increasing public-sector scrutiny to make sure taxpayers get good value for money, which business cases will be successful?  Will all 27 proposed cases proceed?  Will others be added, or some added and others dropped?

Based upon our years of experience working with HM Treasury and NHS institutions on such business cases, we’ve developed five 'golden rules' for successful capex programmes.
