Measuring price effects in vertical mergers: Frontier presents at 2018 CRESSE conference

Jon Adlard and David Foster of Frontier’s Competition practice today presented at the annual CRESSE conference on competition policy and regulation in Crete. Jon and David presented research analysing how to measure price effects in vertical mergers, and the economic framework Frontier developed to assess the recent Tesco/Booker merger in the UK.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) unconditionally cleared the merger of Tesco / Booker in December 2017, basing a key part of its analysis on the approach set out in Jon and David’s paper.

The 13th Annual Competition and Regulation Summer School and Conference (CRESSE) brought together leading academics and competition practitioners from around the world, including Professor Dennis Carlton (University of Chicago Booth School of Business) and Professor John Vickers (University of Oxford), to discuss advances in competition and regulatory policy.

Frontier regularly advises companies and regulators on competition and regulatory policy.
