Matthew Bell participates in Manitoba’s next step to tackle climate change

Matthew Bell, Director of Frontier’s Public Policy practice, was the keynote guest at a meeting of the newly formed Expert Advisory Council in Winnipeg, Canada. The EAC is being formed under new legislation that is intended to put Manitoba on a path to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and contributing towards Canada’s role in the Paris Agreement to tackle climate change. The EAC will play a crucial role in setting the level of the Carbon Savings Account and advising on policies to meet future savings once the much anticipated legislation is passed.  With electricity largely carbon-free already, Manitoba now faces issues common to many parts of the world:  how to reduce emissions from transport, heating and agriculture. Matthew drew on experience around the world to provide support to the new EAC members and the wider business and public sectors in Manitoba.

Frontier regularly advises governments and private companies on climate policy and how to improve living standards while reducing emissions.
