Frontier speaks at the GSMA Mobile congress in Mexico City

Today (6 June), José María Rodríguez, Associate Director in Frontier Economic’s telecommunications practice, spoke about the development of telecom infrastructure in the region as well as the impact of this on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Telecom investment has grown in the region above the GDP between 2008-2017 (the latest available data) but since 2013, a reduction has been observed.

Removing unnecessary barriers to network deployments will not only lead to a better connected region, but will also increase the opportunities of the most disadvantaged people. A recent study produced by Frontier Economics with GSMA and the InterAmerican Development Bank highlights the impact of ICT infrastructure on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

José María shared a panel with Sebastian Kaplan, Facebook’s manager of public policy in Latam and Ana Valero Telefonica’s Director of Regulation for Latin America.

Frontier regularly advises clients on EU energy policy in the gas and electricity sectors.
