We’re pleased to announce that Dr Christoph Riechmann and Dan Roberts, Directors in Frontier’s energy practice, have contributed to an audio-visual e-book published by the European University Institute (EUIR) and the Florence School of Regulation (FSR).

The book weaves together over 50 contributions, grouped into 'e-chapters', and provides a broad narrative of EU energy law and policy.

Regulating the energy value chain in the EU

Chapter 3 of the e-book features both a podcast and webinar with Christoph Riechmann. The focus of the podcast is on electricity market design. Christoph discusses the design of the wholesale electricity market against the background of sector-specific rules on wholesale energy markets in the EU that aim to facilitate competition by removing barriers to trade and preventing uncompetitive market behaviour.

The webinar with Christoph also features, Matthew Levitt, a Partner at BakerBotts. The topic for discussion is market abuse investigations in the electricity wholesale market. Christoph and Matthew consider how recent guidelines by the German competition authority could have wider implications for other EU member states and what can be learnt from previous investigations in Denmark.

Also featured in chapter 3, is a webinar with Dan Roberts. The webinar explores cross-border participation in capacity remuneration mechanisms and discusses with professors Leigh Hancher and Jacques Derenne what is happening around the standstill of the GB capacity market and why.
