We’re pleased to announce that Paul Johnson CBE, former Director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), will be rejoining Frontier as a Senior Adviser on 1 August 2025.
His role at Frontier Economics will run in parallel with his new position as the Provost of Queen’s College, Oxford, which starts at the same time.
Paul held senior roles across government, including the Cabinet Office, the Financial Services Authority, and HM Treasury, where he was Director of Public Services and Chief Micro-Economist. He also served as Deputy Head of the Government Economic Service. Between 2007 and 2010, Paul was a Senior Associate at Frontier Economics, before returning to the IFS as Director in 2011. He has contributed to numerous public bodies, including the Economic and Social Research Council and the Committee on Climate Change. In the 2018 Queen's birthday honours list, Paul was appointed a CBE for services to the social sciences and economics.
Paul Johnson comments on his return to Frontier:
“It’s great to be returning to Frontier as a senior advisor. I know that Frontier Economics shares my belief that great economic analysis is vital to ensuring the best possible public policy and in helping companies navigate new challenges. I have seen at first hand the quality of Frontier’s people and the work that they do, and I look forward to working with and supporting them.”
