Sir Alex Chisholm, Chair of EDF Energy and former head of the CMA, closed our BIG25 series with a keynote on one of the UK’s biggest economic challenges: regulation.

Our BIG25 event series celebrates 25 years of Frontier by inviting some of the UK’s leading experts to explore the fundamental challenges of today’s economies.

In his speech, Alex looked at the ‘identity crisis’ facing regulation in the UK. He argued that it too often holds back investment – and called for a more efficient, coordinated and cost-effective system. 

Alex put forward a challenge to policymakers: to rethink assumptions around the role of competition, and consider reforms that could unlock new infrastructure.
