Our new Directors
Jens is based in Frontier’s German offices, Cologne and Berlin. He has around 25 years of experience in the energy sector, advising utilities, regulators and Government bodies in and outside Europe. Jens is driven by his desire to help clients on key questions regarding market and grid regulation, market design, mergers and acquisitions and energy strategies. Additionally, he is currently intensely working on challenges and opportunities of European climate policies, i.e. the transformation of the energy system towards renewable energies, hydrogen and green fuels.
Julia has over 15 years of experience as a competition consultant. She originally joined Frontier’s Brussels office in 2008 and relocated to Cologne in 2016. From there, she leads projects across Frontier’s Cologne/Berlin, Brussels and London offices. Julia has been involved in numerous competition cases before the European Commission, national competition authorities and national courts across Europe, spanning a wide range of industries. She also has extensive experience in litigation matters, including appearing before court as an expert witness. Julia was recognised by W@ as one of the '30 in their 30s Notable Women Competition Professionals in Economics 2017’ and is regularly included in Who’s Who Legal’s economic expert rankings, most recently in ‘Who’s Who Legal: Thought Leaders - Competition – Economists 2021’ and ‘Who’s Who Legal: Germany Competition Economists 2021’.
David, based in Frontier’s Cologne office, has wide experience in the fields of energy markets, climate policy, mobility, quantitative market analysis, regulatory and policy design. He also frequently acts as expert witness in arbitration and litigation cases. For over 15 years David has been advising corporate clients and associations in the energy and mobility industry as well as regulatory and governmental authorities across Europe. In recent years, one focus of his work has been on defossilistation options in the energy, mobility, heat and other sectors.
Our new Associate Directors
Based in London, Claire has over fifteen years of experience as an economist, with particular expertise on climate change and the low carbon transition. She advises clients on investment decisions, business model design and policy interventions in the low carbon energy sector, including on buildings, transport, industrial decarbonisation, renewable electricity and carbon capture and storage.
Hamish is based in our Dublin office, and he has over 15 year’s advising on a range of economics issues. His main areas of interest include competition, investment appraisal, strategy and regulatory economics. He has particular experience advising clients in energy, retail, post and delivery, and water sectors.
Located in the London office, Iain has over 10 years of experience advising clients in front of the competition authorities in merger, market investigation and cartel cases and in litigation in front of the courts. Recent experience includes advising the London Stock Exchanges on its acquisition of Refinitiv, the CMA’s defence of its first “pay-for-delay” decision and JP Morgan’s appeal to the General Court in relation to the Commission’s decision in the Euribor case. Iain is listed as a future leader in Who’s Who Legal.
Tim is based in London and works in Frontier’s Strategy practice. He specialises in the retail and consumer sector, where he advises clients on commercial, regulatory and policy issues. Tim’s recent experience includes topics such as medium-term business planning through Covid and beyond; reshaping channel and category strategies in the face of changing economics; and merger assessments.
Working from the London office, Jon has more than a decade’s experience advising clients on a broad range of competition issues. He has worked on a number of high-profile competition litigation cases before National courts, including Gas Insulated Switchgear, Power Cables and Trucks, and has experience of both follow-on and standalone damages claims across a range of sectors. Jon also has extensive experience of advising clients through CMA and EU merger inquires, with particular expertise in the grocery and gambling sectors, where his previous cases include Tesco/Booker, Poundland/99p Stores, Ladbrokes/Coral and Rank/Gala.
