Abbas Hussain

Abbas works in Frontier’s Energy practice leading on projects for public and private sector clients in GB, Ireland and across Europe on a range of topics guided by his interest in the ongoing energy transition. 

He has extensive experience of providing policy and regulatory advice, particularly in engagements involving energy market modelling and markets-focused aspects of energy network regulation (various flexibility topics), and in helping undertake due diligence of energy infrastructure assets. At Frontier, Abbas has advised a broad mix of public and private clients – working both for regulatory authorities to help design energy market policy, and alongside private sector clients to develop their strategic response to various policy changes and to evaluate transaction opportunities.  


Prior to joining Frontier, Abbas was at London Economics International (LEI) in the United States. At LEI, he worked as an energy consultant with a particular focus on electricity markets advising private sector clients, market institutions, and governments on asset valuation, market power, and strategy in energy markets across North America specifically in New England, New York, California, Alberta, and Quebec. Prior to LEI, Abbas worked for Cornerstone Research, providing economic and financial analysis in commercial disputes and litigation proceedings. 


Abbas graduated from Yale University with a degree in Economics and Mathematics, and completed a masters in International Finance and Economics at Columbia University.
