Josef Schumacher

Josef is a Senior consultant in Frontier’s Cologne office working across the Competition and Energy practices.

He combines strong attention to detail and careful use of econometric techniques with original conceptual thinking to answer complex economic questions. Josef regularly advises clients on issues of competition and security of supply in European gas markets.

Within the Energy practice another focus of Josef’s work has been the adoption and regulatory environment of hydrogen and other renewable fuels. Moreover, Josef has supported clients in a number of abuse of dominance and merger proceedings in the transport sector. 

Before joining Frontier, Josef worked in the Bank of England’s EU Withdrawal Unit, where he analysed the impact of adverse Brexit outcomes on the UK real economy and financial sector.

Josef holds a MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Essex. He is bilingual speaking English and German.
